Mechanic's Helper

 

East Central Oklahoma Electric Cooperative is currently recruiting for a Mechanic's Helper.  The successful candidate will be able to perform mechanical maintenance repairs on all Cooperative vehicles as well as hydraulic repairs, welding and painting of Cooperative vehicles.  The Mechanic's Helper will assist the Fleet Management Supervisor in all aspects of fleet operations and provide assistance to the warehouse as needed, when assigned.

 

EDUCATION

High schoold diploma or equivalent required.  Certification from a training school in auto mechanics is desirable.

 

EXPERIENCE

Should have six (6) months actual working experience at a certified auto mechanics garage or in a certified training program.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of all types of motors, including gasoline and diesel.  Should have a working knowledge of lubrication tyopes of oil and grease which are required to maintain different types of equipment.  Welding, painting, hydraulics, electric systems, trouble shooting gas and diesel problems experience is preferred.

 

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Should have the ability to maintain special machinery and special equipment.  Should have the ability to assist in maintaining a multi-vehicle fleet of operations.  Must have a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Usual office, warehouse and field conditions.  Inside and outside work is required.  Travel is required.  Exposed to varied adverse weather conditions, such as dust, rain, extreme heat, extreme cold, ice, snow, humidity, etc.  Works long hours in emergency situations.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.

 

HAZARDS

Falls, falling objects, insect bites, toxic and/or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials, fumes and airborne particles, electric shock, cuts, burns, poison ivy and oak, etc.  Frequently works near moving mechanical parts, vibration.  While performing the duties of this job, the Mechanic's Helper is occasionally required to work in high, precarious places.
